What is an FF&E Trust Account

A safeguarding account into which the Client pays their FF&E budget (either in one go, or on an agreed basis). For each proposed purchase, the Designer uploads the supplier invoice and, once approved by the Client (or their team), we pay the supplier directly.

How does this fit in with our contract?

Many design contracts already envisage some sort of client funds account or pre-payment of FF&E procurement; we simply consolidate the two. Most interior design contracts require no amendment at all.

Who owns the money in the account?

As a trust account, we hold the money on trust for the Client up until such time as a supplier invoice is approved by the Client and the Designer, whereupon we pay the relevant sum out to the supplier.

What happens to any remaining funds?

At the end of the project, if the FF&E Trust Account is still in funds, we simply return those to the Client.

Can the Trust Account be used to pay the Designer?

Absolutely - the Designer simply uploads their invoice like any other supplier and, once the Client has approved it, we pay the Designer directly from the account.
